Summary Administration is a shortened form of probate in Florida. It is often referred to as the “shortcut” because it skips the appointment of a Personal Representative (Executor).
Instead of a long administration period, the court simply issues an Order of Summary Administration that directs the immediate distribution of assets to the heirs.
Do You Qualify?
To use this fast-track method, the estate must meet ONE of the following two criteria:
The value of the estate’s assets (excluding the homestead property) is less than $75,000.
The decedent passed away more than 2 years ago (regardless of the estate’s value).
